Cranial Osteopathy for Babies and Adults
Cranial Osteopathy is a subtle and gentle form of Osteopathic treatment that aims to support the body’s natural ability to adapt and regulate. It uses light, hands-on assessment and treatment rather than force or manipulation and is often described as deeply calming. Cranial techniques may be used on their own or alongside other Osteopathic approaches, depending on what is most appropriate for each person.
Who is Cranial Osteopathy suitable for?
Cranial Osteopathy may be used with people of all ages, including babies and adults. Fiona uses cranial
techniques regularly in her work and adapts treatment according to the age, needs and preferences of each patient. Adults may seek Cranial Osteopathy as a gentle approach to support relaxation, ease tension and improve overall comfort.
Cranial Osteopathy for babies
Cranial Osteopathy is commonly used with babies in the early months, when they are adapting to life outside the womb and undergoing rapid physical and neurological change. Treatment for babies is very gentle and carefully adapted. It does not involve force and aims to support comfort, movement and early development.
Fiona’s main clinical focus and experience is working with babies from 4 weeks after their due date at their first appointment through to around 6 months of age. This reflects where she most commonly works and where her experience is concentrated. Older babies and children may still be appropriate in some circumstances, and Fiona is always happy to advise or refer on where another practitioner would be better placed to help.
At a baby’s first appointment, time is taken to ask about pregnancy, birth, feeding, sleeping and general behaviour. Many babies are calm during treatment, and some sleep during or afterwards. For a clearer overview of appointments and suitability, see Osteopathic treatment for babies.
Appointments can be booked via the online diary.
